Privacy Policy

Effective starting: April 23, 2026

🔔  Rebranding Notice: Gloomin has officially rebranded to Glooin effective April 23, 2026. All references to "Gloomin" in this document should be read as "Glooin". The substance of this policy is unchanged.

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Glooin ("Glooin", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Glooin Chrome extension or our platform at www.glooin.com, or when you otherwise interact with us (collectively, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy also explains your choices about how we use information about you — including how you can object to certain uses, and how you can access and update your information. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use our Services.

This Privacy Policy is intended to help you understand:

✅  Our commitment: Glooin does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or user data — ever. Your recordings, screenshots, and account data exist solely to provide the Service to you. We will never monetise your data by selling it to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.

Information We Collect

We collect information about you when you provide it to us, when you use our Services, and from other sources, as described below.

Information you provide to us

Account and profile information:  We collect information when you register for an account or make a purchase. This includes your name, email address, and — for paid plans — billing information. You may also add a display name or profile photo to your account.

Content you create through the Services:  When you use Glooin to record your screen or take screenshots, the resulting videos, images, and associated metadata (such as title, duration, and timestamps) are stored in your account. You control what you record and what you share.

Information you provide through support channels:  If you contact us for support, you may submit your name, email address, a description of your issue, and any screenshots or attachments that help us resolve it.

Payment information:  When you purchase a plan, we collect billing details. Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Glooin does not store your full card details on its servers. Please see Stripe's Privacy Policy at stripe.com/privacy for more information.

Feedback and communications:  If you send us feedback, respond to surveys, or participate in promotions, we collect the information you provide in those interactions.

Information we collect automatically

Your use of the Services:  We collect information about how you use Glooin, including which features you use, actions you perform, recordings and screenshots you create, links you click, and how you interact with shared content.

Device and connection information:  We collect information about the device and browser you use to access the Services, including your operating system, browser type, IP address, and diagnostic data. We use your IP address to approximate your location to improve your experience.

Chrome extension activity:  When you use the Glooin Chrome extension, we may collect data about which tabs or windows you initiate recordings on (not the content of other tabs), as well as extension settings and preferences.

Cookies and tracking technologies:  We and our third-party partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide functionality, recognise you across sessions, and understand usage patterns. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

Information from other sources

We may receive information about you from other sources, including payment processors, analytics providers, and — if you invite others to Glooin — the contact details of those individuals. We may combine this information with information we already hold about you to improve our Services and your experience.

How We Use Information

How we use the information we collect depends on which Services you use, how you use them, and any preferences you have communicated to us. We use information for the following purposes:

To provide the Services:  We use your information to operate the platform, authenticate you, process payments, store and serve your recordings and screenshots, and provide customer support.

To personalise your experience:  We use information about how you interact with Glooin to tailor the interface, surface relevant features, and improve the relevance of communications we send you.

To develop and improve our Services:  We analyse usage patterns, feature interactions, and feedback to identify trends, fix bugs, and build new features. We may test new features with a subset of users before a wider rollout.

To communicate with you:  We use your contact information to send account-related communications (e.g., purchase confirmations, plan expiry notices, security alerts) and — where you have opted in — product updates and promotional content.

To maintain safety and security:  We use information to detect, investigate, and take action on fraudulent, illegal, abusive, or policy-violating activity, and to protect the integrity of our platform.

To comply with legal obligations:  We process information as required to comply with applicable laws, respond to legal requests, and enforce our Terms of Service.

With your consent:  For any other purpose, we will ask for your explicit consent before processing your information.

How We Disclose Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or user data — ever. We may disclose information only as described below, and solely to operate and improve the Services for you:

Service providers:  We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the Services — including Stripe (payments), Shopify (store infrastructure), cloud hosting providers, analytics tools, and customer support platforms. These providers are contractually required to handle your information securely and only as instructed by us.

When you share content:  When you generate a shareable link or invite someone to view a recording or screenshot, that person will be able to access the shared content. You control who you share with.

Legal and compliance reasons:  We may disclose information to comply with applicable laws, court orders, regulatory requirements, or valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Glooin, our users, or the public.

Business transfers:  If Glooin is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on our website before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With your consent:  We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

How We Store and Secure Information

Glooin takes the security of your information seriously. We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

Your recordings and screenshots are stored on secure cloud infrastructure. Storage is allocated per plan (1 GB / 25 GB / 100 GB / 250 GB for Free / Starter / Pro / Power plans respectively).

However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to maintain your own local backups of important content.

How Long We Keep Information

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Services. The specific retention period depends on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected:

  • Account and profile information:: Retained for the duration of your account. If you close your account, this information is deleted within 30 days.
  • Recordings and screenshots (Content):: Retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, Content is permanently removed within 30 days.
  • Payment records:: Retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years).
  • Support communications:: Retained for up to 3 years after the resolution of the support request, or longer if required by law.
  • Usage and analytics data:: Anonymised or aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

Where we no longer have a legitimate business need to process your information, we will delete or anonymise it. If deletion is not immediately possible (e.g., because it is stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from further processing until deletion is feasible.

How to Access and Control Your Information

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights with respect to your personal information. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to exceptions under applicable law. We will respond to requests within the timeframe required by law.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@glooin.com. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

You may also manage certain information directly within your account settings, including deleting recordings and screenshots, updating your profile, and adjusting notification preferences.

Our Policy Towards Children

The Services are not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at support@glooin.com and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
